The history of the Hôtel des Grottes

Originally, the Hôtel des Grottes was a small family inn where people came to eat around the “cantou” (cantou).
A little info: the cantou is a large fireplace, found mainly in the southwest of France. In other words, the cantou was the essential element of the home: for keeping warm, cooking food, but also for sharing and exchanging...
It all begins,
In the 1920s,
The Hôtel des Grottes is above all a family story that began in 1929. Roger and Marthe, the founders, transformed a small inn into a friendly hotel in the heart of Cabrerets, paying homage to the famous Pech Merle Cave discovered by Marthe.
Dans les années 50,
Jeannot, one of Roger and Marthe's two sons, succeeded his parents with his wife, Anne-Marie Bessac, creating the peaceful terraces that have made the establishment famous today. They worked for several decades to make a name for the establishment. The Hôtel des Grottes is now known for its peaceful terraces and warm cuisine.
In 1999,
From generation to generation, the hotel has grown and improved, always driven by the same passion for hospitality and the region. Jean-Paul, Jeannot's nephew, refusing to see the family business die out, also embarked on the Quercy adventure with his sister Anne-Marie and enlisted the whole family to revive the place.
In 2012,
Later, Nicolas, Jean-Paul's son and the last generation of the Théron family, along with his partner Clélia, brought the hotel, which had been abandoned, back to life. They modernized the hotel while preserving its old-world charm and continuing the family adventure with a breath of fresh air and modernity.

Good morning
Fabrice, un Normand de cœur, quitte sa pizzeria et sa brasserie de Caen pour relever un sacré défi : reprendre l'Hôtel des Grottes. C'est un peu par hasard qu'il découvre ce petit coin de paradis et qu'il tombe sous le charme de Cabrerets et de son histoire. Sans être issu de la région, il ressent immédiatement une connexion profonde avec ce lieu chargé d'histoire.
Depuis son arrivée, Fabrice s'attache à perpétuer l'esprit de ce lieu tout en apportant sa touche personnelle. Chaque année, il entreprend de nombreux travaux de rénovation pour préserver l'authenticité de l'établissement et lui offrir un confort moderne. Il a également à cœur de retracer l'histoire de l'hôtel et de mettre à l’honneur les personnes qui l'ont façonné et de créer des liens avec les habitants de Cabrerets.
Aujourd'hui, Fabrice, accompagné de son équipe dévouée, vous accueille dans un lieu chargé d'histoire, où le charme d'antan côtoie le confort moderne.
